iPad 2 Release Date Details

In true Apple fashion, Steve Jobs, at the special Apple event held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, CA, unveiled the iPad 2 release date an iPad 2 review details.

The iPad 2 review did not disappoint as it's quite clear that there's a laundry list of upgraded iPad 2 features inside and out! The new iPad 2 has, once again, raised the bar and will no doubt continue to be the industry standard when it comes to tablets.

Interestingly enough, the buzz surrounding the new iPad 2 features had more to do with the unbelievably thin form factor, 33% thinner than the original iPad, and the blazingly fast speeds as noted by the tech elite who had their chance at a hands on review of the new iPad 2.0. So here's the skinny on the iPad 2 release date. The new iPad 2 launch occurred March 11, 2011 in the U.S. and March 25, 2011 in 26 international countries.

iPad 2 Features - Colors

The second generation iPad will come to market in both black and white. And, yes, unlike the iPhone 4 and the missing in action white iPhone 4 model, the new iPad 2 is promised to ship in both colors starting on day one.

iPad 2 Features - Dimensions

The new iPad 2 is unbelievably thin. In fact, it's thinner than the iPhone 4 and, as previously noted, it's 33% thinner than the original iPad. It weighs in at 1.33lbs, roughly two-tenths of a pound lighter than the original iPad.

iPad 2 Features - Apple A5 Dual-Core Processor

Compliments of the new 1GHz Apple A5 dual-core processor, the 2nd generation iPad 2.0 is touted to be 2x faster than the original iPad without any additional battery consumption needed to power the new speed enhancements.

The Apple A5 dual-core processor will also provide for phenomenal graphic performance and will be instrumental in supporting GPU performance up to 9x greater than that of the original iPad tablet!

iPad 2 Features - Cameras

The front and rear facing cameras will come with the next generation iPad 2.0.

The rear facing iPad 2 camera has 5x digital zoom and will support HD 720p video recording at up to 30 frames per second with audio.

The front facing iPad 2 camera is VGA supported with video recording capabilities as well.

The next generation iPad 2 battery, despite the power draw needed to support the new Apple A5 dual-core processor and the lighting fast usability speeds it supports, should equal the original iPad battery in providing up to 10 hours of Wi-Fi Internet surfing, video watching, and music enjoying pleasure. Definitely impressive!

The iPad 2.0 tablet also comes with a three-axis gyroscope, accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, and a digital compass.

Yes, the iPad 2nd generation 3G models will be carried on both Verizon and AT&T wireless networks. No, the iPad 2.0 won't be compatible with Verizon's LTE 4G network.
