Amazon Kindle Fire Release Date
By iQwest
The new Amazon Kindle Fire release date will arrive just in time for consumers to indulge in the Holiday buying season!
Will it be an iPad killer? Yes and no! The Kindle Fire (not to be confused with the original Amazon Kindle eBook Reader) won't be competitive in terms of specs / features and that really shouldn't come as any big surprise, since there really haven't been any Android tablets that have to date! However, where it will be incredibly competitive and very attractive to consumers is the price point. You can preorder a Kindle Fire for only $199!
If you're looking to buy an Android Tablet backed by Amazon and supported by a suite of Amazon services (from free cloud storage, to books, games, an appstore, and much more) you're going to look forward to the new Amazon Kindle Fire launch date.
Kindle Fire 2011 Release Date
The new Amazon Android Tablet release date rumors had been stirring up until September 28, 2011 when Amazon unveiled their new Kindle Fire. As noted above, Kindle Fire sales (preorder) have already started, but the actual Kindle Fire release date won't occur until November 15, 2011.
Personally, I'm intrigued by the new Amazon Kindle Fire launch. I own an iPad and love it, but the price point can be a bit much especially if you'd like to supplement your current mobile gadgets with a tablet PC.
For a "try it and see if I like it" device (a want, not a need!), buying a Kindle Fire at $199 is much more palatable than spending more than double that for an iPad or another top Android tablet.
Additionally, Amazon has been quietly building a suite of services that will offer the consumer an incredible amount of "on the go" functionality with their new tablet. Free cloud storage, check! Access to thousands of books, magazines, videos, movies, and songs, check! Full color web browsing powered by a dual-core processor, check! It even comes with access to stream over 10,000 of your favorite TV shows and movies if you become an Amazon Prime member.
In terms of size, I like it. Yes, you do sacrifice screen real estate, since the Kindle Fire is a 7" tablet versus a 10" tablet. However, you'd be surprised as to how much of a difference this actually makes in improving the gadget's mobility. It may be bulky, but, in a pinch, a 7" tablet can fit in a big purse or in an inside jacket pocket. Try that with a 10" touchscreen!
In fact, this past Saturday I was spending a leisurely day with family and an issue arose with work that I had to deal with. Of course, I didn't have room to have my iPad on me so I had to use my iPhone. In short, I got done what I needed to, but it was a chore that ended up eating a considerable amount of my time. The Kindle Fire would have struck the perfect balance, saved me a lot of time, and would have short circuited a big headache! You get my point. If you don't (even if you do!), check out the hands on video review below to see what this thing can do!
